I have used safety wire with great success over the years. The 35/1000 sized safety wire is the way to go. You can use this stuff with any snare set up that you would use pre-manufactured snares for. It is thin enough to avoid detection, it is sturdy enough to set without the need of support vegetation, and it is strong enough to hold bolts in place on an aircraft, let alone hols small game in place until you get around to collecting them. So, try this stuff out next time you go out, you will be happy you did. You can usually get it at most hardware stores. If you can't find it, just ask a knowledgable clerk.
